EPIC – The Irish Emigration Museum is a globally recognised cultural institution located within the historic CHQ building on the north side of the River Liffey in Dublin. The museum tells the powerful story of the Irish diaspora, celebrating the extraordinary global impact of Irish people and the communities they have shaped across the world.

Created to honour the legacy of Irish emigration, EPIC combines personal emigrant perspectives with wider social and cultural context. Through immersive galleries and interactive storytelling, visitors gain insight into why people left Ireland and the traditions, beliefs and heritage they carried with them. The museum continues to share these stories through exhibitions, educational programmes and digital engagement, highlighting the achievements and contributions of Irish communities worldwide.

RIB Contracts delivered the complete exhibition fit-out and setworks package, overseeing the design development, manufacture and installation of bespoke joinery, architectural metalwork, exhibition models, integrated lighting and graphic elements.

A key aspect of the project was the use of RIB’s in-house joinery and metalwork fabrication facilities, allowing the team to maintain full control over quality, detailing and production timelines. This integrated approach enabled complex exhibition elements to be carefully prototyped, manufactured and assembled before installation, ensuring the high level of craftsmanship required for the gallery environments.

RIB worked closely with the client’s appointed AV hardware contractor to integrate audio visual equipment seamlessly within the exhibition setworks, ensuring technology, lighting and interpretive content were fully aligned with the physical gallery environment. At the same time, RIB coordinated extensively with the basebuild contractor to manage site interfaces, services integration and installation sequencing within the live building environment.
